Monday, November 25th, 2024 – Safeway
Another week, another TrashWalking adventure, what will this week bring? Okay, rain to start with. We had light rain during our entire walk, and we arrived home wet. But someone left us breakfast.

Two cans of No-Li Juicy Hazy IPA. Okay, it’s a good brew, but not for breakfast on a cold, wet morning. Perhaps in the summer, but thanks anyway.
We found another lost shoe.

It was obviously lost from a vehicle. Chuck wanted to hang onto it in case we found a match, but Janet wanted to toss it into a nearby soccer field since that was probably where it came from. After some discussion, Chuck relented and tossed it over the fence. Of course, two blocks later we found the other one.

Chuck put it on the curb across the street. Later in the day when running some errands, Janet picked it up and tossed it over the fence with the first one. At least they are both lost together.
This was a gruesome sight.

Outside the KinderCare, a mangled doll. It’s a rough neighborhood. Even in its condition, it is giving them the finger.
We picked up a jacket from the street.

It had been run over multiple times and was not suitable for Goodwill so we left it next to a Textile recycling collection box. It was waterlogged, so we did not put it inside. And, yes, we checked the pockets. Nada.
We also acquired a United Airlines passenger blanket.

They probably have noticed it was missing from their inventory and are looking for it. We’ll wash it and return it to them. They might reward us with free, round-trip business class tickets to Europe. In our wishes.
We found a dog’s Christmas stocking.

When we checked the contents, it was filled with unused dog poop bags. Is this the dog version of lumps of coal? Burt: “Merry Christmas, Zeke! What did you get for Christmas? I got a cool ball and a lot of treats.” Zeke: “I don’t want to talk about it.”
Tuesday, November 26th, 2024 – Park-and-Ride
This morning was about like yesterday except we found less picture-worthy stuff. The temperature was about the same, it was raining again, and we found more beer at the park-and-ride.

Five-and-a-half Corona beers. We dumped out the half beer and kept the five unopened ones. And that’s it for today.
Wednesday, November 27th, 2024 – Safeway & 100th
It was a cold, dark walk today with some light rain. We removed a roadkill squirrel from the street but found a penny in a parking lot.

So, we won’t be penniless this week, so, at this time, we don’t have two pennies to rub together. Not that we would want to rub two pennies together. What does it buy you?
Another wheel cover, a Nissan, this time.

Fortunately, there was a recycling bin nearby where we left it to be recycled into another.
Janet found this mask but wouldn’t wear it.

Monkey see, monkey don’t do.
We didn’t find any beer today, breaking our two-day streak.
Thursday, November 28th, 2024 – 160th to 124th Street
Happy Thanksgiving! Today the temperature dropped to 33°F (0.6°C) for the first time this season and we added an extra layer of clothes and carried hand warmers, so it wasn’t too uncomfortable. We didn’t find any money, but we did find a couple of tools.

A 12-mm deep socket in great condition and a rusty Phillips screwdriver socket. We’ll add them to our collection. We almost have enough to open our Sockets-R-Us store. Stay tuned.
We picked up a vehicle emblem.

Usually when we find an emblem like this, it is among a pile of shatter scatter from a car wreck. But we didn’t see any other pieces-parts scattered about. So, either it was a very gentle bump, or the person stopped too quickly. Either way, GMC needs to work on securing their emblems better.
Then this.

The ominous contractor’s bag. We have found these filled with leaves, construction trash and even a dead animal. We didn’t open it but from the feel of it, it was construction trash and it was heavy. We left it and will contact the city.
Friday, November 29th, 2024 – 100th Ave NE
Today’s weather was about the same as yesterday with one exception. We found some money at Janet’s favorite drive-thru.

A nice nickel in good condition. It is a bit blurry, but we’ll take it. And we found three tools too:

A small paint roller that had been run over and broken, a rusty utility knife and a Milwaukee Shockwave 6″ Impact Locking Bit Holder, Twenty-four bucks on Amazon.
And the beer continues to flow this week.

We are now up to seven unopened cans/bottles this week in three finds. Free beer! We can live with that.
Uh-oh. Someone overcooked the Thanksgiving turkey.

And tossed out the grill he blamed his bad cooking on.
We found more of these pill containers.

Last week, we found some of these and determined that they were pills for rats a guy owned as pets. Today, we found a bag of them with an unused dog poop bag in it. So, the guy is responsible and cleans up after his pet rats. These bags will work, but you probably need to carry smaller “Rat Poop Bags.”
We came across a large water-logged cardboard box to recycle.

According to the label, it contained a cat litter box. So this piece of litter is a littered cat litter box box.
It was for a cat, so it’s a cat’s littered cat litter box box.
The guy owns a cat, so he’s probably a nice guy and a real cool cat, so it’s Cat’s cat’s littered cat litter box box.
Now, it could be that the guy works for UPS in the shipping department, so its’s Boxer Cat’s cat’s littered cat litter box box.
It was a big box, so it may be that the cat just had kittens, so Boxer Cat’s cat’s litter littered cat litter box box.
And since the guy is a pet lover, he may have a dog and the dog could be a boxer, but we’ll stop there.
Saturday, November 30th, 2024 – Riverside Drive
Today, we removed a roadkill rat from the street and found more money.

A dime in front of the apartments on Woodinville Drive which makes this a weak money week.
The bridge into downtown Bothell is still closed to motor vehicles so the city put up a couple of signs to notify folks. The one at the bottom of the hill is having an issue.

It has a battery icon with one bar blinking. It has solar panels, but this time of year, the sun does not reach this location.
Someone had a nine-course meal.

Eight Modelo beers and a Jumex Strawberry-Banana juice for dessert.
And at the park-and-ride,

Someone celebrated Thanksgiving with a packet of precooked turkey, but the packet was unopened. They probably forgot the cranberry sauce.
Another poor, lost sole.

We picked up three items of clothing today.

A pair of socks, a balaclava and a garment we puzzled over for a while but decided it was a halter top, but the straps didn’t seem to match up. It was from Forever 21, so we searched their website and found it.

The top strap twists to crisscross around the neck. Mystery solved.
That wraps up our TrashWalking week. Our take,
- 16 Cents.
- 10 Unopened food items including nine beers.
- 5 Tools.
- 5 Empty rat pill packages.
- 3 Balls, mostly returned.
- 2 Roadkill, a squirrel and a rat.
- 1 Monkey mask.
- 1 Big trash bag.
- 1 Remains of a 9-course meal.
- 1 Lost sole.
- 1 Littered cat litter box. Don’t get us started.
- 1 Disappointed dog after Christmas.
Have a great week and remember to buy your cat some cat litter for its box.
