Happy New Year, we hope. For the TrashWalking.blog, it was a non-event as we were snowed out. Throughout the week, we got eight inches (20 centimeters) of snow and the temperatures reached a low of 14°F (-10°C) which cancelled our walks for the week.
However, we were productive, at least one of us was. Chuck kept the driveway clear of snow through multiple shovelings.
Meanwhile, Janet frolicked in the snow.
Yes, if you believe that, there is a bridge in Brooklyn we own that we will sell you cheap. This is really our gymnastic granddaughter, Lucy.
Chuck keeps yelling at her to “Stop that!” and pushes her over.
But she ignores him. Smart girl.
We did perform one TrashWalking task this week. Every six months, we weigh the pop tabs we have been collecting.
25.08 ounces minus the tare weight of 3.81 ounces makes 21.27 ounces or 603 grams. Adding this to our current statistics, we have collected a total of 9.6 pounds of tabs which is approximately 12,200 beer/soda/other cans since we started walking. The sad thing is when we donate the entire 9.6 pounds to the Ronald McDonald house, they are worth about four dollars and thirty cents. Really? We pick up twelve thousand cans and it generates four dollars? But we cannot help ourselves. We will keep plucking the pop tabs.
Happy New Year and keep tossing your Mike’s Hard Lemonade cans.
