December 3rd, 2018 – Safeway Route.
It was a bit cool this morning at 37F. The rest of the week is supposed to be colder, so we may not walk. 30F is our limit. Today we got out of the house a little earlier than normal so we didn’t see any of our usual honkers. We did fling some roadkill. After a bit of discussion, we decided it was a rabbit.
Along NE 145th St, a school bus is sometimes parked waiting to start its run. Janet and the bus driver exchange waves. Today he was standing outside of the bus on his cell phone. We exchanged a couple of pleasantries.
The trash today was moderate, but mostly cans, cigarette butts and fast-food trash. We did find some five-fingered gloves.
And a one-fingered glove.
A short distance away we found the box. Probably just trying to keep warm.
December 4th, 2018 – Park and Ride.
This morning was clear and cold at 31F. We got a honk from Mr. Handyman and waved to Salinas Construction.
At the top of the hill, the moon and Venus provided a show for us just before sunrise.
Near the bus stop at the Park and Ride, we found another rubber glove.
We also found another car registration nearby.
We came to a fork in the ditch. We took the fork, but we decided to stay on the road.
We found a Gatorade-Butt Bottle. But is was not a Gatorade bottle and it was not in Gatorade Gully. Amateurs!
We also found some discarded marijuana trash. Its probably difficult to remember details when you’re smoking pot, but you should remove your name from the trash before you toss it out the window.
December 5th, 2018 – Cancelled.
The temperature this morning was 29F, below our minimum. So, we didn’t venture out. We did sleep in until 5:45 am, though.
December 6th, 2018 – Cancelled.
Cancelled again. 29F.
December 7th, 2018 – Cancelled.
Cancelled yet again. 28F. Tomorrow, it is supposed to be toasty 37F, but raining. We’ll see. It the meantime, we have added a new page, Strange and Interesting, that we will update as time permits.
December 8th, 2018 – Riverside Drive.
This morning the temperature was 38F with only minor drizzle. There was a lot of trash and traffic was heavy for a Saturday. They were probably out enjoying the warm weather.
We found two quarters. We like money. The guy who lost these doesn’t have two coins to rub together.
Then, we came across this. Did someone have too much to drink? We covered it with leaves.
We found a single sandal in a ditch. It has a basketball player on it. It doesn’t look like it would be a good basketball shoe.
We found a Hostess Cupcake. It was already half-eaten, so neither of us wanted it for breakfast.
We found a glove hard-frozen to the pavement. It took a minute to pry it loose. It is labeled Michigan State University, College of Veterinary Medicine. Michigan State’s not having a great football season, but that’s no reason to toss your gloves.
Someone painted their flashlight orange, and still lost it. It isn’t a very good one, maybe they tossed it on purpose. We’ll never know unless someone shines some light on the situation.
We found another druggie’s needle. It’s now in our needle jar.
We found some Nude Air??Christian Dior Diorskin Nude Air SPF 25 Serum, No. 030 Medium Beige. $43 per ounce on Amazon. Pretty pricey to be throwing away.
Someone lost this. They must have been at the end of their rope.
We found someone’s shopping list.Redacted. They must have passed it by their attorney before tossing it out the window.
