Sixth Sense

Monday, November 13th, 2023 – Safeway

This was a cool morning and overcast. We found no money and removed a roadkill squirrel. We did come across the site where two objects tried to simultaneously occupy the same space at the same time.

One car was a Honda, and we don’t know what the other was. We assume it wasn’t a tree.

We found another Apple air pod charger.

On our walks we’ve found several Apple ear buds in ones and twos, mostly smashed and unusable. So, we have chargers and nothing to charge.

We picked up a red cloth with a bungee cord attached to it.

In a corner was a printed,

“The Bungee Flag, www.thebungeeflag.com, Patent Pending.” So, doing our due diligence, we checked out the website, but the website was not found. We then found it at several stores like Home Depot, Walmart, and Amazon and all were out of stock. So, the patent must have been rejected. Perhaps because there are several already on the market.

Tuesday, November 14th, 2023 – Park-and-Ride

During November, clear skies bring dry, relatively-cold mornings and guess what? It was. We dressed up in our full-cold gear meaning a warm vest, our rain jacket for wind and cold, our safety vests, well, for safety, and our battery-heated gloves. We felt like the Pillsbury Doughboy.

Or is that the Stay-Puft Marshmallow man?

Okay, it was cold and we were tactile-challenged, but we were able to find and even take a photo of some money.

A nickel in the park-and-ride. A nice start but keep it coming.

We also found some tools.

Okay, it looks like one tool, but it is actually a screwdriver drill bit with an extension, so we are counting it as two tools. And yes, we are gaming it.

This looked promising.

A wadded-up pair of gloves. We find lots of gloves, but matching ones are a rarity. These matched, but they were also very dirty and are now in our trash.

Wednesday, November 15th, 2023 –100th Ave NE

The weather this morning was a bit colder. We need to travel to Spokane, WA on Thursday so we will miss our Friday and Saturday walks, so we decided to do the Friday route today.

We found some money.

Only a single penny mined at Janet’s favorite drive-thru, but that ups our take this week to six cents. We don’t know if we will find any more money this week because we don’t have a sixth sense about more than six cents.

We did remove a roadkill from Juanita-Woodinville Way NE.

Unfortunately, it was a pet cat. We removed it to the grass by the side of the road and found that it had a collar on. We checked the collar, and it had a tag with a telephone number on it. We texted the number saying that we were very sorry, but their cat had been hit by a car and described where it was.

As we ended our walk, we got a response thanking us for letting us know but they couldn’t find it. We asked if they wanted us to come down and show them and they responded that would help. We parked the car in the park-and-ride and walked to where the cat was and waited. After several minutes, we called the number and explained who and where we were.

There was a big communication issue. We told the lady to walk down to Juanita Woodinville Way and we would wait on the corner. Again, we waited and waited. We called yet again and told them to go out in front of the apartments. We walked back to the apartments and spotted a lady getting out of a car and finally made contact with her and her daughter. After some laborious communications, the lady decided to drive to the park-and-ride while we and the daughter walked back to the cat. And we waited.

Eventually the lady came hurrying down from the park-and-ride with a box. We asked if she needed any more help, but he said no and thanked us again. As we were leaving the park-and-ride, we saw something else that looked like another deceased cat across the street, but we were late as it was and decided to take care of it tomorrow if it was still there. We were making good time on this morning’s walk before this cat incident.

We picked up a hoodie.

It’s a “Zombie Makeout Club Hot Topic Hoodie Manga Black White Grunge Horror” hoodie. We found one for sale on eBay for twenty-five bucks, but we don’t think Goodwill will get that much for it.

We found another lost sole on Simonds Road.

Actually, it was the whole shoe, but it did have a sole.

At the top of the Tolt Pipeline Trail, we found a tube.

We recognized the logo as Fireball Cinnamon Whisky and after some searching, we found it was a Holiday Candy Cane.

Ten bucks for a ten-pack of 50 ml bottles. They couldn’t even wait for Christmas? And yes, we found four empties on our way home.

Thursday, November 16th, 2023 – 160th to 124th Street

Today was the coldest of the week for us, but still not too uncomfortable. At the Tolt Pipeline Trail, someone left five dog poop bags.

They were all identical, so it was the same perpetrator. Time to get a trail camera.

By the park-and-ride, someone lost a wheel cover.

Not a Toyota, for once, this one was a Mazda wheel cover. It seemed to be in good shape, so we left it for whoever lost it.

We picked up two signs from the Chevron station by the freeway.

They were broken up, so we carried them to their dumpster for them. You’re welcome.

On the freeway northbound off-ramp, we found the biggest crash debris we have encountered.

We were able to pick up most of the small pieces, but the large piece was the fiberglass fender of a semi and was over seven feet long. We left it. We’ll see if it gets removed without us needing to call someone. It is kind of hard to miss.

We found the other deceased cat from yesterday.

To our relief, it was a nondescript t-shirt someone lost. Phew!

Since we left later in the day for Spokane, this will wrap up our short walking week. We did find four pennies in the hotel parking lot, but we were not walking and picking up trash, so cannot count it.

So, our take this week,

  • 6 Cents.
  • 8 Mike’s Hard Lemonade cans.
  • 3 Articles of clothing, only two suitable for Goodwill.
  • 2 Car crash debris, one a semi tractor.
  • 2 Roadkill including the fourth cat we’ve dealt with.
  • 1 Tool.
  • 1 Hubcap, not Toyota.
  • 1 Pending bungee flag.
  • 1 Alcoholic candy cane.
  • 1 Five-piece set of matching poop bags.

Have a great week and remember, not all cats have nine lives.
