May 21st, 2018 – Safeway Route.
Normal amount of trash, but few cans due to the weed growth. Got a honk from Mr. Handyman and waves from MM Mechanical and the Salinas Construction guy. Also waved at Vanessa on the hill. We see Steve and Vanessa periodically at the Hop and Hound. Found 2 bristles, a green tennis ball, a white Wiffle Ball, a quarter and a $30 pair of sunglasses.
Complete with case and cleaning cloth.
These Ditch Ducks have become regulars along Juanita-Woodinville Way.
A tiny Trash Gnome just showed up today.
Upon returning from our walk, there was fresh roadkill, a rabbit, that was not there when we left. I flung it into the bushes.
May 22nd, 2018 – Park and Ride Route.
We had a quick walk today with a lot of bulky trash. We did not see any of our regular honkers today but did have a random honker. We also saw Vanessa as we turned up the hill. I also flung some kind of unidentifiable bird, probably a fledgling.
Janet’ hissing goose and her brood, artfully framed.
Unopened Budweiser!
The Breakfast of Champions.
Found a crack kit.
No doubt supplied by the City of Seattle from a Safe Inhaling Site.
May 23rd, 2018 – Safeway Route.
This was a relatively uneventful walk, but we picked up a lot of trash, partly flotsam from a garbage truck. We got a honk from Mr. Handyman and a wave from MM Mechanical. We found 11 cents and three bristles. We also found a case of Corona beer bottles.
All empty. I carried it for about a half mile until we found a place to deposit it.
Janet’s goslings were outside the fence with mother inside, but as she approached, they scurried back under the fence to safety.
May 24th, 2018 – Park and Ride Route.
This was a nice morning and a very light day for trash. We got a honk from Mr. Handyman, a wave from MM Mechanical and saw Salinas Construction but he did not see us.
We found a penny and a glove. –
I almost missed it. Hope to find the mate because they would complement Chuck’s new outfit.
Also, a hair pick.
I am ready for my ‘fro now.
May 25th, 2018 – Safeway Route.
It was a nice walk this morning with a moderate amount of trash. We got a honk from Mr. Handyman and several waves including MM Mechanical and Salinas Construction.
Janet caught her goslings outside the fence, but they quickly got back with mom.
My dentist said I need to use these.
So, I started collecting them.
And the highlight of the morning.
Not-So-Sweet Sixteen. Hanes.
May 26th, 2018 – Riverside Drive.
This was a relatively light day for a Saturday and we did not find any large wine bottles. However, the weeds are very high now so they may be well hidden. Someone dumped a bunch of flooring by the road. Too big to fit in my bag. I will let the city know.
It was a bad day for snakes.
We found four snakes (not snake skins) dead this morning. The theory is that someone did some weed control and the snakes were victims.
We pass this house every week.
These are discarded, unopened newspapers next to their driveway. When we first started walking on Riverside, we picked up a few of the papers each week. Then we noticed that new papers were appearing, so we quit picking them up. A few weeks ago, some of the papers were covered up with tree branches. Why not just cancel the subscription? It’s a mystery.
Finally, our contest of the week.
Name that roadkill.
